Welcome to the Year 2 class page! We hope you have had a lovely holiday and are looking forward to the year ahead. We certainly are!

The teachers in Year 2 are Mrs Birtwistle (2NB), Miss Wheeler and Mrs Graham (2WG). Miss Thompson and Mrs Pugh are our fantastic teaching assistants who work with both classes.  On alternate Tuesdays Mrs Gatiss will be teaching Spanish and Mr Cairns will teach us P E.

A few reminders:

Homework: We will be starting a new system for homework this year. Please see the letter attached to the newsletter dated Wednesday 11th September for more information on this. We will also explain this at our meet the teacher meetings.

Reading: The children are expected to read at least five times per week for 10 minutes. It is your child’s responsibility to change their reading book each morning if they need to (we do give them reminders) but if they do forget they are allowed to come back in at home time to change their book.

Please write a comment in the children’s reading diary each time to let us know how they are getting on with their reading at home. We will give some examples of questions that you could ask your child when they are reading to you. We will write in the reading diaries at least once a week.

PE. Children will need shorts and a t shirt for indoor PE. For outdoor PE children will need pumps/trainers, shorts and t shirt for summer and long PE trousers and warm long sleeved top for the winter. Please name everything.  2NB have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2WG have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Water: Children are allowed to bring in a bottle of water each day which they can access at any time. Please ensure your child’s name is on their bottle.
